Titan International Inc. plans to keep the Kelly farm tire brand for at least the next year, Titan CEO and President Morry Taylor told investors this morning.
Titan will acquire the Kelly brand as part of its purchase of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s farm tire unit, which Taylor expects will go through next month.
Titan plans to position the Goodyear brand as its premium farm tire offering.
"Our main thing is to build the Goodyear brand," says Taylor.
While the long-term future of the Kelly farm tire label remains up in the air, "we're not going to leave the people who sell Kelly high and dry. We'll try to have some decent-sized runs."
Titan's purchase of Goodyear's farm tire unit includes the acquisition of Goodyear's farm tire plant in Freeport, Ill.
