New sizes give BFG Traction T/A 88% coverage

Feb. 24, 2005

Michelin North America Inc. is adding 15 T-rated sizes to its BFGoodrich Traction T/A line.

The new sizes will be launched in two phases. Nine sizes will be available to dealers this month; the remaining six sizes will be available in July.

The expansion increases the line's size availability to 57. It gives the Traction T/A coverage of 88% of the T-rated touring market, according to Thom Peebles, BFGoodrich Tires brand director.

Some of the sizes are H- and V-rated. The H- and V-rated Traction T/A tires come with a 60,000-mile limited tread wear warranty. The T-rated version is covered by a 70,000-mile warranty.

The 15 new replacement sizes include three 14-inch sizes (P185/70R14, P185/65R14 and P195/70R14), eight 15-inch sizes (185/65R15, P185/60R15, P195/65R15, P195/60R15, P205/70R15, P205/65R15 and P205/60R15) and five 16-inch sizes (P215/65R16, P205/65R16, P205/55R16, P215/60R16 and P215/55R16).

The BFGoodrich Traction T/A also will be offered as original equipment on three new vehicles in 2005, including the Ford Mustang (215/65R16), Chrysler Pacifica (P235/65R17) and Hyundai Tucson (P235/60R16).

Michelin launched the Traction T/A, designed for touring and sports car drivers, in 2003. It replaced seven existing tire lines.
