Monro Muffler Brake adds 10 stores to tire division

Jan. 11, 2005

Monro Muffler Brake Inc. has agreed to acquire 10 Mr. Tire retail tire stores in the southern Maryland market.

The stores were part of the original Mr. Tire chain, but have been operated separately for the past six years by Henderson Holdings Inc. They have combined annual sales of approximately $12.5 million.

The stores will retain the Mr. Tire name and will be operated as part of Monro´s Tire Division.

Last March, Monro purchased 26 Mr. Tire retail stores from Atlantic Automotive Corp.

"We expect the new stores not only to strengthen our geographic footprint, but also to complement our existing tire stores," said Robert Gross, Monro president and CEO.

The 10-store transaction is expected to close this March.
