Tire dealer elected to Georgia senate

Jim Whitehead of Augusta, Ga.-based Jim Whitehead Tire & Auto has been elected to the state´s senate.

"It is my desire to serve my constituents in an honorable, moral and trustworthy manner," says Whitehead.

"I want to make sure that the people of my district know that their voices are being heard when we go to Atlanta for the 2005 legislative session."

Whitehead has a long history of public service. He served as a Columbia (Ga.) County commissioner from 1995 to 2002 and was chairman of the commission for more than two years. He has worked with a variety of other civic organizations.
