Disney Tire co-founder Paul Disney dies

Former tire dealer Paul Edward Disney Jr. died at his home in Louisville, Ky., on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010. He was 83.

Disney was the retired chairman of Disney Tire Co., a business he co-founded with his father and managed with his sons and brother-in-law for more than 50 years. He was instrumental in the formation of several national private brand tire companies, and held various leadership positions in the tire industry.

He also was a board member of Future Federal Savings and Loan, and active in the Kosair Shrine, the Scottish Rite and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a faithful member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church for more than 50 years.

Disney was preceded in death by his parents, Laura Adams Disney and Paul E. Disney Sr.; his daughter, Ann Disney Davino; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Noel Disney.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Ashton Disney; his sons, Paul E. Disney III (Nancy) and Stephen Disney (Cathleen C.); and five grandchildren: Paul Disney IV (Sarah), Jennifer Disney, Laura Disney, Clark Disney and Christine Disney.
