Kumho to supply tires for Jeep Grand Cherokee

Nov. 17, 2010

Kumho Tire USA will be supplying its ultra-high performance eco SOLUS KL21 tire for the Chrysler Group LLC’s 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee sold outside of North America. The tire sizes are 265/60R18 and 265/50R20.

“Kumho Tire has already gained a strong market confidence in North America, the biggest tire market in the world, by being one of the top five manufacturers in the replacement equipment tires market, including UHP tires,” says Son Doo-hyung, Kumho’s senior vice president of OE sales. “We will continue to actively target the global OE market for premium vehicles and expand partnerships with overseas automakers.”

The relationship between Chrysler and Kumho dates back to 2006, when Kumho first offered its OE UHP tires for the Chrysler Sebring. The company also has enjoyed OE tire contracts with Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen and Ford Motor Co.

After this recent agreement with Chrysler, Kumho Tire is expected to generate an even stronger momentum in its pursuit of overseas markets, the company says.
