TIA revamps Automotive Tire Service program

Nov. 8, 2010

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has completely revamped its popular Automotive Tire Service (ATS) training program, says TIA President Mike Berra Jr.

And that's not all, he adds. TIA is planning to introduce "an online university" that would initially include the revamped ATS program. "I don't think it will take long to develop. It's a question of integrating our product with the company that puts these programs together and then launching it."

The online program could be ready within six to nine months, he explains.

TIA also is developing a farm tire service training program. "If the budget is there, and the vote is there, it would go into production in 2012, for release probably in late 2012."

Berra adds that TIA also wants to translate its Commercial Tire Service program into Spanish, "and not just as an audio dub-over. This would be the full, complete program in Spanish."

TIA has trained more than 6,500 tire technicians so far in 2010.
