Post-SEMA Show: Cooper wins prestigious award

Nov. 8, 2010

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. received the prestigious Global Media Award from the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nev., last week. The Discoverer S/T MAXX, which will be available to dealers in February 2011, was selected because of its all terrain performance capabilities.

More than 2,000 new products were registered at the SEMA Show, with a judging panel of 26 journalists from 16 countries choosing a select few products based on their potential impact and commercial success.

“We strive to meet the demands and needs of our customers worldwide, not just in the U.S., so we’re incredibly thrilled with the reception we’ve received for the new Discoverer S/T MAXX,” says Steve Sawyer, director of brand and product management.

The Discoverer S/T MAXX will replace the Discoverer S/T-C line and selected sizes of the Discoverer S/T. It features Cooper’s Armor-Tek carcass, a new cut and chip-resistant tread compound, “and a progressive tread design.”

The tire will be available in eight sizes, ranging from 16 inches to 18 inches in diameter.

Since 2004, the SEMA Global Media Awards Program has been a staple of the SEMA Show. Bringing together journalists from across the world, the purpose is to identify and discover what new products are likely to succeed in their home countries.
