SEMA Show, Day Two: Cooper unveils four premium tires

Nov. 3, 2010

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced four new Cooper brand premium tires at this week’s Global Tire Expo -- Powered by TIA. All four products will launch in 2011.

“In our highly competitive and fast-paced industry, we believe a genuine competitive edge can be obtained from the commitment Cooper has to providing our customers with a consistent supply of innovative, new products,” says Steve Sawyer, Cooper’s director of brand and product management.

“The launch of four new premium products in one year is an unprecedented move for Cooper and we are excited about not only the products but the market opportunities they will provide to our customers.” New products include:

* the Discoverer A/T 3, the latest addition to Cooper’s light truck and SUV tire line. The tire will replace the Discoverer ATR. It contains a silica tread compound for improved traction and longer tread life, according to Cooper officials. The Discoverer A/T 3 will be available in 30 SUV sizes and 32 light truck sizes, ranging from 15 inches to 20 inches in diameter.

* the Discoverer S/T MAXX, which contains Cooper’s Armor-Tek carcass, a new cut and chip-resistant tread compound, “and a progressive tread design.” Launching in February 2011, it will be available in eight sizes, ranging from 16 inches to 18 inches in diameter, and will replace the Cooper Discoverer S/T-C, as well as selected sizes of the Discoverer S/T.

* the Cooper Zeon RS3-A, Cooper’s latest ultra-high performance all-season tire. “Combining large tread elements and asymmetric design, it provides all-season confidence in less-than-ideal weather conditions,” say Cooper officials. The Zeon RS3-A will replace the Cooper Zeon Sport A/S, and will be initially offered in 31 sizes when it rolls out in April 2011.

* the Cooper Zeon RS3-S, which will replace the Cooper Zeon 2XS when it launches in April 2011. The tire builds upon the technology of the Cooper Roush RS3 tire and contains a silica tread compound for “superior wet driving performance.” Meanwhile, the tire’s “durable, uniform tire construction delivers a crisp, tight steering response.”

All four tires are on display at Cooper’s Global Tire Expo -- Powered by TIA booth (#43009) in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
