TRIB cancels membership meeting in Las Vegas

Oct. 22, 2010

There will be no Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) membership meeting at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Nev., this year. The meeting has been canceled.

According to interim TRIB Managing Director Marvin Bozarth, the meeting is unnecessary. Bozarth, owner of Bozarth Tire Industry Consultants LLC in Louisville, Ky., has been running the association since former Managing Director Harvey Brodsky was fired Oct. 5, 2010. Bozarth announced the change in an e-mail to TRIB members on Oct. 22.

“I would like to start by introducing myself as the interim managing director of TRIB,” he wrote. “With over 52 years in the industry and 12 years as the managing director of ARA (American Retreaders Association) and ITRA (International Tire & Rubber Association), most of you already know who I am.

“The TRIB board of directors has asked me to take the interim managing director position while they search for a new managing director. Because I feel so strongly about the importance of TRIB, I am willing to interrupt my consulting business until the board finds the right director to move TRIB forward.

“If you have any TRIB questions, please feel free to call me at 502-738-9168, or email me at [email protected].  If your questions are of a general nature, you could call or email the TRIB office.

“The other purpose for this communication is to clear-up some confusion.

“In a communication on Oct. 3, 2010, you were informed that there would be a TRIB membership meeting in Las Vegas on Nov. 2, 2010. (see “TRIB will hold special meeting in Las Vegas”).

“The TRIB by-laws call for one annual membership meeting. That meeting was held in Louisville on March 24, 2010, in conjunction with the Mid-American Truck Show.”

Bozarth says the next TRIB membership meeting will be held in March 2011 in Louisville in conjunction with the 2011 Truck Show.
