More than 12,000 buyers will attend SEMA Show

Sept. 24, 2010

More than 12,000 unique buyers have registered to attend the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. In addition, 180 tire companies -- 34 of which are first-timers -- have agreed to exhibit at the Global Tire Expo - Powered by TIA, which will be held during the SEMA Show.

"For 2010, SEMA and the Tire Industry Association(TIA) have created this tire industry-only part of the SEMA Show, which will be open to all segments of the tire industry, including automotive, commercial retreading, recycling and more," say SEMA officials.

"To demonstrate the overall importance of the specialty equipment industry's tire segment, a total of 12,488 unique registered buyers of the 2010 SEMA Show indicate they are interested in tire products. This includes 1,947 buyers who are interested in OTR tires, 5,292 in attendance for tire accessories and 5,249 for passenger and light truck tires."

The SEMA Show has the potential to draw more than 50,000 buyers from all over the world, says SEMA CEO and President Chris Kersting. "Many buyers at the SEMA Show are looking to expand their product line to include tire-related products. This dedicated floor section and the other new programs will help buyers discover the potential that the tire industry has to offer."

Among pre-resgistered SEMA Show buyers, 16% said tires were among their top product interests, while 23% of international buyers said the same thing, according to SEMA officials. Approximately 42% of all pre-registered buyers and 37% of international buyers "carried tires. Ten percent of trucks and accessories pre-registered buyers selected tires as a top product interest. Thirty-eight percent of buyers sell tires to the market."

"We have expanded our vision for a true tire industry show that encompasses all sectors of the tire industry," says TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield. "The result of this effort is the new Global Tire Expo - Powered by TIA, and it has been warmly received by the industry. We're confident the Expo will quickly be regarded as the tire industry event of the year."
