In the Brickyard 400, Champion spark plugs powered the engines of the top three Chevrolet finishers – race winner Jamie McMurray, second-place finisher Kevin Harvick and fourth-place finisher Clint Bowyer. Champion plugs also powered third-place finisher Greg Biffle’s Ford engine.

In NHRA Top Fuel action at Denver’s Bandimere Speedway, Champion plugs powered Doug Kalitta’s 8,000-horsepower Kalitta Air dragster to a title-winning 3.96-second/308-mile-per-hour pass. Kalitta’s Champion-powered dragster also posted the quickest run of the event – ripping off a 3.92-second run at 311.33 mph.

“The Champion brand once again delivered superior power and durability in two of the world’s most demanding racing series,” said Michael Proud, North American marketing director, Federal-Mogul. “Quarter-mile runs of over 311 miles per hour and 400 miles of intense competition in extreme temperatures at Indy demonstrate why Champion is recognized as the ‘Performance Driven’ brand of spark plugs.”
