Formula for fun at the Bridgestone Racing Academy

July 22, 2010

What's it like to drive a Formula 2000 race car? Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich found out recently when he attended the Bridgestone Racing Academy in Pontypool, Ontario (near Toronto).

In existence for 19 years, the racing school is owned and operated by Brett Goodman and sponsored by Bridgestone Americas Inc. All the vehicles run on Bridgestone's flagship ultra-high performance tire line, the Potenza RE-11.

"It's a street tire that you can use on the track, not a track-designed tire that you can use on the street," says Jeremy Smith, community and corporate relations manager for Bridgestone.

Ulrich squeezed into one of the 10 Van Diemen Formula 2000 vehicles on site. His experiences at the academy are chronicled in photos on MTD's Facebook page.
