Yokohama goal in Thailand is 4 million tires

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is expanding its consumer tire manufacturing plant in Thailand for the third time.

The 9.7 billion yen investment ($108.6 million as of June 28, 2010) will increase annual passenger and light truck tire production capacity by 1.4 million tires. Current capacity at the plant, under the direction of Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co. Ltd., is 1.9 million tires; it will reach 2.6 million tires when the second expansion plan is completed in April 2011.

Yokohama estimates the plant will have a capacity of 4 million tires when the third expansion plan is completed.

Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) was established in January 2004 in Rayong Province. It has been producing truck and bus tires since April 2005, and consumer tires since November 2006.
