Bridgestone donates to flood relief in Tennessee

May 12, 2010

Bridgestone Americas Inc. and its parent company, Bridgestone Corp., have combined to donate $100,000 to assist with relief efforts following major flooding in the Middle Tennessee region.

Each company donated $50,000 to the following assistance programs:

Bridgestone Americas: Nashville Area Red Cross.

Bridgestone Corp.: Clarksville-Montgomery County Red Cross and Rutherford County Red Cross.

“Our teammates truly sympathize with the tragedy suffered in the Middle Tennessee region,” says Gary Garfield, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas. “We hope our contribution to the Red Cross and our parent company’s generous matching contribution will assist recovery efforts in the Middle Tennessee communities, and help area families impacted by the flood rebuild their lives faster.”

Co-workers at the Bridgestone Americas Support Center in Nashville have raised more than $5,000 for the Teammate Assistance Fund (TAF) and dedicated countless volunteer hours to help several co-workers who lost their homes in the flood waters. The Bridgestone Americas TAF provides teammates with financial assistance in times of emergency and is supported entirely by contributions from other employees.
