CIMS signs up Vianor for POS tire registration

April 12, 2010

CIMS Tire Registration reports it has signed Vianor Inc. to a point-of-sale (POS) electronic tire registration agreement.

CIMS reports Vianor joins a growing list of clients who comply with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Tire Registration Regulation (49 CFR Part 574) by registering every tire  they sell electronically.

“We welcome the opportunity to work with Vianor to provide their retail tire locations with the ability to register every tire they sell at the point of sale,” says Susan Kruder, CIMS president.

“Tire registration is an extremely important safety issue for the tire purchaser as well as a legal obligation for the tire dealer,” Kruder continues. “By registering every tire sold electronically, Vianor Tire customers can be assured they will receive direct notification from the tire manufacturer/brand owner in the event of a safety related recall or campaign.”

Keith Reinders, Vianor’s retail support coordinator, says, “We are working with CIMS as a service to our customers, but also for our stores. We enter the DOT serial numbers at the point of sale and the information is forwarded to CIMS Electronic Tire Registration Clearinghouse. This saves us an enormous amount of time and is so much more efficient and accurate.”

Vianor tire stores offer tires and automotive service to customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. They sell and install all styles of tires, from winter and all-season to light truck and SUV from numerous manufacturers including Nokian, Bridgestone and Firestone.

Vianor tire outlets are a part of Nokian Tyres’ Vianor tire chain, which consists of over 600 outlets in 19 countries (see www.vianor.com).
