The expansion of Bridgestone Corp.'s OTR tire plant in Kitakyushu, Japan, is three months ahead of schedule, company officials report.
The second phase in the plant's expansion was originally scheduled to start this July. The factory began building "ultra-large" OTR tires 10 months ago.
Bridgestone officials project that the plant's output will be at 80 tons per day when the second phase of expansion is completed by the second half of 2012. The plant, in total, represents a 58 billion yen investment. It employs 329 people.
