Goodyear brings new CIO McKinnon to Akron

March 23, 2010

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named Jim McKinnon vice president and CIO, effective April 1, 2010. He will report directly to Chief Financial Officer Darren Wells.

In his 35-year career with the company, McKinnon has advanced from intern to director of IT for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In his new position, he will join the company’s finance leadership team and be based in Akron, Ohio.

Tom Connell, who has served in dual roles as corporate controller and CIO since December 2008, will continue as vice president and corporate controller and oversee Goodyear’s worldwide controllership function.

"Thanks to Tom’s leadership over the past two years, the IT organization has been restructured to be more efficient and more focused on the needs of its internal customers," says Wells. "As a result, IT is now ready to become a more strategic organization and help Goodyear -- and its associates -- better leverage technology to achieve our business goals."

"The Global IT Leadership Team is very grateful to Tom for his leadership, direction and support over the last two years in the drive to transform the organization, and as a result, going forward, we now have an opportunity to have a significant impact on Goodyear and its associates," adds McKinnon.
