Toyo Proxes R1R wins at round one of SCCA Solo National Tour

March 17, 2010

Past Solo National Champion and Team Toyo driver, Tim Smith from Atlanta, Georgia; began the 2010 autocross season by winning the Street Touring (ST) class during the Dixie National Tour at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Georgia.  Piloting his 1989 Honda Civic Si equipped with Toyo Proxes R1R extreme performance tires, Smith defeated the large 14 car field during the two-day combined event.

In the end, Toyo Proxes R1R shod cars took the top positions in several classes, including first through seventh in ST, first and third in STL, first and second in STS, and first and third in STR.  That represents four wins out of five classes where Proxes R1R equipped cars were entered.

“The Proxes R1R continues to be the tire of choice for winning drivers in the street touring classes of SCCA Solo,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “Tim Smith has demonstrated once again that he is the person to beat in the ST class.”

The 140 UTQG Proxes R1R is ideal for aggressive street driving, the street touring category of SCCA autocross and the street classes at time attacks.  It has won consecutive championships in SCCA Solo National Championships, Redline Time Attack! and Formula DRIFT; and is an excellent choice for high performance driving schools and track days.
