TANA voices support of economic recovery proposals

Oct. 11, 2001

The Tire Association of North America (TANA) says it is firmly behind President Bush's economic stimulus plan, plus a small business-friendly bill that was introduced last week.

The proposal, entitled the "Small Business Leads to Economic Recovery Act," promises to increase business owners' access to capital through U.S. Small Business Administration-sponsored loan programs; provide tax incentives to help small businesses continue investment in equipment and new jobs; and create procurement opportunities for small businesses with the federal government.

Independent businesses in many fields have reported sales losses of 20% to 40% compared to last year thanks, in part, to last month's terrorist attacks, according to the Small Business Legislative Council, an alliance of nearly 80 trade and professional associations of which TANA is a member.
