Bosch introduces S-line batteries in the U.S.

Feb. 24, 2010

The Bosch Group is launching a comprehensive automotive battery program in the continental United States with the introduction of four new passenger vehicle lines, including a high tech AGM line for extreme conditions and start/stop applications.

The batteries, "100% maintenance-free under normal operating conditions," are designed to handle the increasing power requirements of today's -- and future -- vehicles, according to the company.

"Bosch's battery program meets the growing electrical power needs of popular domestic and import passenger cars, light trucks and SUVs, with 95% coverage of vehicles on the road in North America," says Thomas Winter, global marketing director, energy systems for Bosch.

The company offers free roadside assistance with all four lines.

Bosch S5:  premium performance battery

The S5 line focuses on the premium domestic and imported luxury car segment and cars with a high number of electrical features and accessories. Bosch backs the battery with a three-year, free replacement/pro rata warranty.

Bosch S4: quality performance battery

Described as an "all around battery" by Bosch, the S4 focuses on mid-size cars with an average number of electrical features and accessories. Bosch backs the battery with a two-year, free replacement/pro rata warranty.

Bosch S3: value performance battery

An "economical solution for older cars with less electrical equipment," the S3 is backed by a one-year, free replacement/pro rata warranty.

Bosch S6: high performance AGM battery

Sealed and 100% leak-proof in any position, the S6 covers special applications such as the Mercedes E class and Mazda MX-5 Miata. It is backed by a three-year, free replacement/pro rata warranty.

Bosch's North American battery initiatives will be supported by extensive sales and marketing campaigns, adds Winter.

In addition to the passenger car battery program, Bosch also will launch truck battery and lawn and garden battery programs.
