Goodyear Eagles tapped for new Chevy truck due next year

Oct. 10, 2001

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s Eagle performance tires will be shod on Chevrolet's new SSR roadster pickup when the vehicle goes into production in late 2002.

The "super-wide" Eagle RS-A (Rally Sport-Assymetric) tires were developed "in an accelerated program," according to Goodyear officials.

The tires "in size P255/45R19 for the front and P295/40R20 for the rear will propel the V-8 powered vehicle," which "combines the features of a convertible roadster and a pickup truck."

The Eagle RS-A will be made at Goodyear's plant in Lawton, Okla.
