Pelmar buys contents of Trelleborg plant

Feb. 18, 2010

Israel-based Pelmar Engineering purchased all of the equipment at Trelleborg Wheel Systems' old industrial tire plant in Hartville, Ohio, earlier this week. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Trelleborg produced its final tire in Hartville, an Akron suburb, last September. The factory's production has been transferred to a plant in Sri Lanka.

Included in the purchase were mixers, extruders, and other machines, according to Jacob Peled, executive chairman of Pelmar Engineering.

"Some of (the equipment) we're goint to recondition, some we're going to sell as-is," he told www.moderntiredealer.com.

Peled said his firm outbid several companies for the plant's contents. Trelleborg acquired the factory nearly 20 years ago.
