Nov. 16, 2014

Launched by Clarence Shook as family-owned “Rancho Jeep Supply” in Los Angeles, Calif., Tenneco Inc.’s Rancho performance suspension and shocks brand will celebrate its 60-year-long history during 2015.

Tenneco kicked off the brand’s anniversary celebration at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas last week. The Rancho booth included a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK and 1952 Jeep Willys that featured an array of Rancho systems, shocks and accessories.

Since 1955, the brand has grown from a popular off-road and Jeep-specific parts supply business to the design of conversion kits, roll bars and safety belts for early Jeeps to a suspension and ride control manufacturer. Tenneco says Rancho has always been one of the leaders in off-road innovations and product designs.

The Rancho brand also has  a history of involvement in the off-road community and its stewardship.

“It’s an exciting milestone for such a renowned brand,” says Chris Gauss, director, performance products, Tenneco. “The Rancho brand has been a leader in the off-road industry – through community involvement, product development and strategic global alliances – from the start and continues to adapt to this dynamic industry.”

Tenneco says The Rancho brand is best known for its best-selling shock absorber, the Rancho RS5000, and the world’s first adjustable shock absorber, the Rancho RS9000 XL. Rancho products are designed, manufactured and marketed by Tenneco.
