2014 AAPEX, Day Two: Mitchell 1 adds to 1Search

Nov. 6, 2014

Mitchell 1 took ProDemand with 1Search to the next level on the first day of the AAPEX (Automotive Aftermarket Product Expo). The company incorporated a dashboard that provides the top 10 most common repair issues and lookups for a selected vehicle.

The 2014 exposition will run through Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. AAPEX is part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week.

The latest enhancement to ProDemand will give technicians a jumpstart to an accurate diagnosis even before they enter the specific problem on the vehicle in their service bay, according to Mitchell 1.

"Technicians just tell ProDemand what vehicle they are working on and we provide what we know about the vehicle, broken down into four lists -- components, codes, symptoms and lookups," said Ben Johnson, director of product management.

"The wealth of vehicle data we have at Mitchell 1 gives us the ability to retrieve and analyze repair information for a huge variety of vehicle issues to give technicians a time-saving head start on the best fix for their current vehicle."

In three simple steps, 1Search guides technicians to a likely cause.

First, they select a vehicle, including the year, make, model and engine, and ProDemand then immediately brings back the top 10 components, codes and symptoms, along with the 10 most common lookups for that vehicle.

Next, they review the top 10 lists and click any items that seem applicable. The results page then delivers a link to the OEM repair information and a list of "Real Fixes" that have solved the issue, including an indication of how many vehicles have been repaired correctly using each real fix.

Introduced last year, the powerful search technology in 1Search delivers complete OEM and expert-based information together in a single lookup in ProDemand. The 1Search feature incorporates a search field for entering diagnostic trouble codes, components or symptoms, which then returns information from Mitchell 1’s vast library of OEM content as well as detailed parts replacement records, tips and Real Fixes from SureTrack.

The information is organized into the familiar tabs in the ProDemand dashboard, which enables the user to easily find the most relevant information to solve their specific repair problem accurately and efficiently.
