Atturo expands Trail Blade family

Oct. 3, 2014

Atturo Tire Corp. has introduced the Trail Blade X/T, an all-terrain tire that combines on-road performance with the off-road look of a mud terrain tire.

The company says the tire meets customer requests for a highway tire with the aggressive style of the Trail Blade M/T. Atturo collaborated with Quartermaster Knives’ designer Jared West to design the Trail Blade X/T.

The design is inspired by the Quarter Master QTR-3 knife. The sidewall tread is styled after the knife blade while the shoulder tread block is in the shape of the knife handle.

The shoulder area features a wide void between tread sections for off road traction, with segmented stone ejectors between each tread. The center of the tire uses an alternating slew of five and three tread blocks across, each with deep siping.

The Trail Blade X/T is available in LT and metric sizes. The LT rated sizes feature a three-ply sidewall and chip and cut resistant tread compound for durability. The metric sizes utilize a two-ply sidewall for improved ride comfort.

Atturo says the Trail Blade X/T will open profitable new opportunities for applications on a wide range of vehicles. The flotation sizes are aimed at the lifted pickup owner. Certain metric sizes will be available for OE replacement as well as plus-zero upgrades which retain the original wheel diameter.

The Trail Blade X/T sizes are targeted to non-lifted trucks and SUVs, a market segment which has started to adopt the rugged off-road look for urban street use, according to Atturo.

The initial sizes entering production will cover 17- through 24-inch rim diameters in metric and flotation sizes with additional sizes in 2015.

Atturo plans to display the Trail Blade X/T at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show (booth 44303) Nov. 4-7 in Las Vegas.
