Following the sale of a majority interest in Morgan Tire & Auto Inc. (MTA) to Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. (BFS), the names of all MTA's retail centers will be changed to "Tires Plus."
This includes stores currently operating under the names Michel Tire, Avellino's, Olson Tire & Auto, Hibdon Tire and Wheel Works.
The name Tires Plus was chosen by Morgan in November 2000 as the common name for his then 540 outlets. This followed his June 2000 acquisition of 82 retail outlets and 60 franchises run by Team Tires Plus.
The company now has 558 locations in 25 states across the U.S. employing approximately 6,000 people.
