Falken Tire Corp. has expanded its East Coast presence with a new regional distribution center in Robbinsville, N.J.. It is located close to the Port of New York.

The New Jersey facility will service tire dealers from the Mid-Atlantic Region throughout the United States Northeast Corridor and up to eastern Canada. Increased inventory and Falken’s expanded fleet of trucks "will enable faster and more efficient tire delivery to local retailers," according to the company.

“The Northeast market is a key target area for Falken’s domestic sales strategy, and having a new state-of-the-art distribution center in this area will support our brand’s growth for the next seven to 10 years,” says Ron Papcun, Falken’s vice president of operations. “This location is the model of Falken’s new warehouse design, which is capable of storing 54% more tires per square foot than previous locations.

“More importantly, we expect to offer a higher fill rate to service our customers in this area. It’s critical our dealers know we are committed to getting them product as quickly as possible.”

The new prototype distribution centers are designed to:

* maximize energy efficiency,

* improve throughput,

* ensure safe work practices, and

* reduce the overall long-term cost of operations.

One unique design element that makes this facility essential to Falken’s ongoing growth is the fire suppression system. The system allows the company to securely and safely store tires on portable stacking racks up to 30 feet or six racks high. This will achieve a density ratio in excess of two tires per square foot of space.
