Hankook Tire America Corp.'s new Vantra Trailer tire and its high-load variant, the Vantra Trailer TH31, target fifth-wheel trailers, campers, boat trailers, horse trailers, flatbed trailers and similar applications.

They represent Hankook's first foray into the specialty tire segment.

The Vantra Trailer features trailer tire-specific technology, including decoupling grooves located at shoulder sections to disperse heat and offer enhanced traction. The tire is available in nine sizes, ply ratings C through E.

The Vantra Trailer TH31 "features compound technology pioneered by Hankook's TBR R&D team, such as Innovation Mixing System, which increases durability and overall structural rigidity," according to Hankook officials.

It also contains a main zig-zag groove for enhanced water drainage and traction, plus an asymmetric groove for stone ejection. The Vantra Trailer TH31 is available in three, G-rated sizes.

"We're committed to offering tire products that enable consumers to enjoy the freedom of the open road – and the adventure of the great outdoors," says Curtis Brison, vice president of PCLT sales for Hankook.

"Ideal for boat, cargo, RV and other types of trailers, the Vantra Trailer products offer outdoor enthusiasts the same high level of quality and performance as our passenger, SUV and light truck tires. We are eager to enter this segment and look forward to serving the market with our new and innovative Vantra Trailer products."

"As our first-ever products in the trailer tire segment, we wanted to develop tires that would deliver exceptional performance and stability in heavy-duty conditions," says Kijong Kil, vice president of development. "Both products are designed to withstand heavy loads and perform on a variety of road conditions, which are essential for trailer applications."
