Royal Tire's Roger Duininck Dies

Roger Duininck, longtime owner of St. Cloud, Minn.-based Royal Tire Inc., recently died. He was 87 years old. 

Roger was born on Feb. 6, 1937, to Garret and Elsie (Mulder) Duininck in Renville, Minn. He married Betty Jean (Terrio) in 1960.

Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. Upon his return, he attended the University of Minnesota and St. Cloud State College.

In 1963, he founded St. Cloud Tire and Tread. 

Roger acquired Royal Tire in 1986 and served as the dealership's president and CEO until 1997, when he sold the business to his children. 

During his tire industry tenure, Roger served on various boards.

He also was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and was part of the Men’s Bible Study.  

"Spending time with family is what gave him the most joy," according to his obituary.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Paul (Jeanne) of St. Cloud, Patrick (Rachel) of South Haven, Minn., and Susan (Brian) of Babcock Ranch, Fla.; grandchildren, Bobby, David, Megan, Craig, Josh, Zoey and Serj; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Zack, Austin, Sophia and Eliza; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister and their spouses.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to First Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.

Funeral services took place on Aug. 1.
