SmarTire readies commercial TPMS

May 24, 2004

SmarTire Systems Inc. will start manufacturing tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) for commercial vehicles in July.

The system includes a receiver that is mounted on a vehicle's chassis and is suitable for commercial trucks, buses, farm, construction and recreational vehicles, according to SmarTire officials.

It monitors both air pressure and temperature.

"This system is not an adaptation of a passenger car product but has been designed specifically to satisfy the demands of the commercial vehicle market," says Erwin Bartz, SmarTire's vice president of business development.
