McCarthy Tire Service Co. Inc. has completed the move of its industrial services operations from Philadelphia to Levittown, Pa.
The industrial tire portion of the business shares a 40,000 square-foot building in Levittown with one of McCarthy Tire Service's commercial tire business locations. The industrial portion includes a custom-built foam fill room, a dedicated space for the large industrial tire hydraulic press, and an expansive area for industrial tire and track inventory. Its move to Levittown was effective Aug. 3.
“Our industrial services division had outgrown the building in Philadelphia,” says John McCarthy Jr. “The larger building allowed us to set up a streamlined production area using the best practices we’ve learned in our retread plants. Co-locating our industrial services and our commercial tire center in a site so close to the interstate highways will improve the way we ship and receive product for our customers.”
McCarthy Tire Service has offered industrial tire services since Joseph J. McCarthy started the company in 1926. It acquired P.J. Dooling Tire Company in Philadelphia, a regional leader in solid tire pressing and foam filling, in 2017. The purchase expanded McCarthy’s capabilities for industrial and off-the-road (OTR) tire work in southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The industrial and OTR division has grown in recent years. In addition to its foam filling and tire pressing services, it now offers rubber tracks, a wheel exchange program, and consultation services for customers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and northern Virginia. The company sells and services industrial tires and tracks for heavy machinery, skid steers, reach and forklifts, stackers and handlers.
The new facility is located at 1901 Hartel Avenue, Levittown, Pa.
