June 11, 2009

Made in the USA Qatar 2009, a trade show for companies looking to do business in the Middle East, will be held October 21-23, 2009, in Doha, Qatar.

Trade show organizer KX Associates reports the U.S. Department of Commerce is supporting the new trade show, while Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of Commerce are "encouraging small- and medium-sized businesses to consider the lucrative opportunities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states."

The show will accommodate 250 exhibitors, and market segments encouraged to participate include automotive, transportation, education and training services, information and communication technology, environmental technology, construction and others.

The trade show "will mark an important milestone in promoting U.S. products and services by providing new-to-export and new-to-market U.S. companies the ideal platform to develop new partnerships in Qatar and the region," says KX Associates.

According to the show organizers, Qatar's gross domestic product is strong; for 2009 real GDP growth should be above 12%. In the next 10 years, Qatar will invest over $120 billion in the development of the energy and industrial sectors, and $60 billion in roads, infrastructure development, housing and real estate, health/medical and sanitation projects.
