Yokohama OKs OTR price increases on Jan. 1

Dec. 9, 2011

Yokohama tire Corp. will raise prices on its OTR tires up to 15% effective Jan. 1, 2012. The company cited  "global supply pressures and elevated manufacturing and transportation costs" as the reasons for the increases.

Additional in-line adjustments will be announced at a later date.

Tires shipped after Dec. 31, 2011, and back-ordered tires will include the new pricing.

“We regret having to make another price adjustment, but find it necessary due to the costs of raw materials, such as natural rubber, that have remained at high levels,” says Gary Nash, vice president of OTR sales. “It’s an ongoing challenge for the entire OTR industry, but Yokohama will continue to use the latest technologies, operational efficiencies and environmental procedures to produce the best OTR tires at competitive prices.”

Yokohama is the latest tire manufacturer to either 1) announce a price increase in the next two months, or 2) have implemented a price increase since Sept. 1.
