Michelin North America reports that Claas, the German agricultural machinery manufacturer that is the European leader in combine harvesters, and Michelin have signed a three-year cooperation agreement at Claas’s headquarters in Harsewinkel, Germany.
The two companies have strengthened their collaboration in several areas, such as research, development and market intelligence, the company says.
For its new performance-enhancing technologies, Claas has chosen Michelin tires featuring Ultraflex technology. Ultraflex allows the tires to carry heavier loads and protect the soil, while taking up less space, Michelin notes.
The harvesters are available and in use in the United States, according to a Michelin spokesperson.
In addition to combines, the new line of Claas tractors also will be fitted with Michelin tires as original equipment.
Michelin and Claas have worked together a long time, the company says, and in January, Claas presented Michelin with its 2009 Supplier Award in the Innovation category.
