Truck tonnage is on the uptick again, having increased 1.7% during the month of September.
Compared with September 2009 numbers, tonnage rose 5.1% in September, according to the American Truck Associations.
Bob Costello, the trade group's chief economist, says the increase is in line with the economy's slow rebound.
"While I am glad to report that tonnage grew in September, the fact remains that truck freight volumes leveled off over the summer and early autumn. This is a reflection of an economy that is barely growing."
