Michelin XDR earthmover tires will be standard fitment on the new Komatsu 860E-1K haul truck, which has a 280-ton capacity.
The truck is on display at this week's MINexpo Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
The XDR contains an extra-deep, rock-type pattern "with tread up to 15% deeper than most ultra-class truck tires," say Michelin officials.
The tire also contains deep, longitudinal grooves and independent tread blocks that run along the center of the tread line. "These blocks come together as the tire rolls to spread the ground contact pressure evenly."
