TIA Board Elects Purcell Tire’s Mason Hess 2019-2020 Secretary
Mason Hess will take the first step on his way to the Tire Industry Association (TIA) presidency when he takes over as board secretary on Nov. 4, 2019.
Hess, area manager for Purcell Tire & Rubber Co.'s Purcell Tire and Service Center in Phoenix, Ariz., will serve as secretary in 2019-2020, then vice president in 2020-2021. He will assume the TIA presidency in November 2021.
During his 20-year tire industry career, Hess has worked for both large and small tire dealerships, as well as for a major tire manufacturer, Bridgestone Americas Inc. His career path includes serving as a warehouse laborer, technical advisor, vice president, area manager, manager and trainer. In these roles he has started numerous new service locations, including commercial dealer facilities and mine site tire programs.
In addition, he has managed directly and indirectly more than 100 service technicians and helped develop TIA’s Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) training and certification program.
As a current TIA board member serving on the Membership and Training Committee, Hess said he has gained an appreciation for the importance of standardized safety procedures for tire technicians and the implementation of vital safety training. “I believe TIA’s core role in our industry is just that.”
“We are excited about Mason’s election as secretary of the TIA board of directors,” said Roy Littlefield, chief executive officer of TIA. “Mason brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position through his work in helping develop TIA’s ETS program, his industry experience and his passion for tire safety and training."
