Bridgestone brings Madonna to the Super Bowl

Jan. 4, 2012

For the fifth straight year, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC is sponsoring the halftime show at the Super Bowl.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI halftime show will take place during Super Bowl XLVI, Feb. 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The event will feature entertainer and “Material Girl” Madonna, who is teaming up with Cirque Du Soleil and Jamie King for the performance.

Last year the Bridgestone Super Bowl halftime show was watched 162 million viewers in the U.S. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide.

A world class entertainer, singer, songwriter, producer, director and video visionary, Madonna has sold more than 300 million records in the course of her three decade career as The Material Girl. She is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and the most successful female touring act in history. Her new film W.E. which she directed, wrote and produced, will open nationally on Feb. 3, two days prior to Super Bowl XLVI.

The tire company's new brand campaign, titled "Time to Perform," will debut during the game. At last year’s Super Bowl, Bridgestone spent $5 million per minute to sponsor the halftime show and run two 30-second ads.
