The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has teamed up with the International Quality & Productivity Center (IQPC) on the 2012 Tire Tech Design and Development Summit Dec. 3-4, 2012 in Detroit.
The Tire Tech Design & Development Summit promises to help provide insight into the technological advancements, regulations and key competition in the tire industry.
Kevin Rohlwing, TIA’s senior vice president of training, will lead a workshop on the value propositions of products to both consumer and commercial fleet customers.
Other speakers at the event include David Rohweder, global manager, tire, wheel, and jack engineer, Ford Motor Co., will gives a keynote presentation where he will discuss global trends in technology and government regulation. Tim Gordon, research professor, mechanical engineering, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, will provide an in-depth analysis of tire rolling resistance in dynamic conditions.
In addition, Mukul Verma, professor, mechanical engineering, Lawrence Technological University in Detroit, will cover the effects of CARB and CAFE regulations on the future of tire technology. Vladimir Vantsevich, professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, will discuss the role of power management systems and the use of this technology to further integrate vehicle systems and improve performance.
Finally, John Emerson, director of standards and government relations, Michelin North America Inc., will explore the benefits of fuel efficient tires and its availability in the current market
