Dan King will leave Yokohama after 20+ years

March 21, 2013

For more than 20 years, Dan King has been helping develop and implement consumer and commercial tire sales strategies for Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC). That will end on April 6, 2013, when he joins Tire’s Warehouse Inc. (TWI), a large tire wholesaler based in Corona, Calif.

He leaves Yokohama as senior vice president of sales and marketing. His replacement has yet to be named.

King, who joined the company in 1988, was named vice president of sales on July 1, 2007. He added vice president of marketing to his title on Jan. 1, 2009.

TWI has four distribution centers in Southern California: Corona, Santa Fe Springs, Sylmar and Fountain Valley.

In other company news, Yokohama announced that Norio Karashima, former CEO and president, will return to the company’s Fullerton, Calif., headquarters as chairman and executive advisor, effective April 1. Most recently, he was director and executive vice president, chief global marketing officer, for Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. (YRC).

“Mr. Karashima has a deep understanding of YRC’s long-term plans, goals and capabilities at the highest level,” says Yasushi Tanaka, YTC’s CEO and president.

“Coupled with his extensive knowledge of the market and the dealer network in the U.S., he is in a unique position to advise our executive management team and make the strategies we have put together that much stronger in steadily growing our sales.”

Karashima joined the parent company in 1976 and has held several executive positions in his career, including president of YTC in 2004.
