On or off the track: the new g-Force Rival

April 24, 2013

The new BFGoodrich g-Force Rival, an extreme performance tire introduced into the market earlier this year, is available only through TireRack.com.

“The g-Force Rival helps BFGoodrich fill a growing need in the extreme performance market,” said Andrew Koury, BFGoodrich brand manager. “From autocross to road course events, on street or the track, we want drivers to own it.”

The tire will help Michelin North America Inc. target a growing market of drivers seeking extreme performance tires that are versatile enough to be used in auto-cross and track-day events, then driven home. The tires have a 200 UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grading) System rating, which allows them to be used in races where drivers must compete on 140 or greater UTQG tires.

The Rival complements the successful BFGoodrich launch of the g-Force Sport Comp-2 ultra-high performance street tire, which was introduced in February 2012.

Unlike the mostly street-driven g-Force Sport Comp-2, the g-Force Rival was designed for both track level abuse and drivability on the street. The g-Force Rival is predictable, which allows drivers to turn faster lap times "and turn heads on the street." Features include the following:

* Performance Racing Core, which has a reinforced internal structure that reduces sidewall flex for instant steering response.

* an asymmetric tread with large, solid tread blocks on the outside shoulder, which optimizez cornering grip.

* Extreme Tread Edge design, which brings the tread compound farther down the shoulder for increased grip in hard cornering and predictable feedback.

* a silica-infused competition compound that delivers better grip from start to finish.

The Rival initially launched with 15 sizes ranging from 15 through 20 inches.
