Stock price performance among the three United States-based tire manufacturers is mixed at the mid-year point.
With second-quarter results just around the corner, Titan International Inc. has a stock price 24.1% higher than it was six months ago. And it posted a first-quarter loss of $3 million (on record quarterly sales of $280.8 million).
In contrast, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. investors have experienced a 16% drop in their stock price since the beginning of the year. Yet the company recorded net income of $16 million (on net sales of $906 million).
From Dec. 31, 2010, to June 30, 2011, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s stock price rose 41.5%. Its first-quarter results were positive: net income of $103 million on net sales of $5.4 billion.
