TBC Retail helps pediatric cancer patients

Oct. 11, 2011

At a recent race event, TBC Retail Group dedicated its Service Central racing efforts to Alex Scott, founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

In addition to bringing 100 children and families to the Uni-Select Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove raceway, Mohnton, Pa., Sept. 30-Oct. 2, TBC Retail donated $181,129 to ALSF.

“On behalf of Service Central Racing and our retail brands; Tire Kingdom, NTB-National Tire and Battery, Merchant’s Tire and Auto Centers, and Big O Tires, we are honored to present Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation with a check for $181,129 in support of its quest to find a cure for cancer,” says Bob Crostarosa, SVP Marketing for TBC Retail Group. To date, TBC Retail and its family of automotive service centers have helped raise over $700,000 for ALSF.

For the second and final time of the season, the Lemonator Nitro Funny Car, driven by Service Central driver Johnny Gray, raced down the track in honor of Alex Scott and her namesake, ALSF. Gray took the Lemonator to the final round against Robert Hight.

“I am honored to spend time with these amazing children and their families,” said Gray. “They are true heroes. Their zest for life and fiery spirits are inspiring. I am proud to have Service Central as my sponsor. Their support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a great gift.”

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has been thrilled to have the continued support of TBC Retail Group in the battle against childhood cancer,” said Liz Scott, mother of foundation creator Alexandra “Alex” Scott. “This year has been especially significant as TBC has further helped us race toward those better treatments and cures by introducing the foundation to the NHRA community. Service Central driver Johnny Gray and the entire team have truly embraced the cause.”
