Hankook's New Winter Tire Wins International Design Award

Oct. 10, 2016

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has won a Good Design Award for its new Winter i*cept iZ2 A tire. The tire is sold in the U.S. as Winter i*cept iZ2.

The model name Winter i*cept iZ2 A is used for products sold in Korea, China and Japan, according to Hankook.

The Winter i*cept iZ2 A was recognized as a winner at the Good Design Award Japan 2016 in the category of Transportation Equipment and Facilities.

Released in September 2016, the Winter i*cept iZ2 A is highly acclaimed for its innovative design that provides optimal performance and safe driving on various road surfaces in winter, according to Hankook.

The tire’s specialized pattern designs such as sharp block edges and a spiral 3D structure of tread block improve the winter driving experience. The coexistence of two design types, symmetric and asymmetric, allows the tire to perform in snowy and wet road conditions. The company says the differentiated design comes from global top tier technology.

It is the third time during 2016 that Hankook Tire has been recognized by major international design awards for its innovative product design. The company received the iF Design Award in February, Red Dot in March and July.

The Good Design Award has been a comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system in Japan since it was established in 1957. Core criteria for evaluation include innovativeness and practicality.
