OTAA is Bringing Training to Its Members

Aug. 10, 2022

The Ohio Tire & Automotive Association (OTAA) has a clear-cut mission statement: “We are dedicated to protecting the legislative interests of Ohio tire and automotive suppliers and providing resources to our members.”

Those resources now include bringing training directly to tire dealers, says OTAA President Jeff Wallick.

He officially announced a partnership with DRIV Inc., which oversees the Garage Gurus mobile automotive training and support platform, at the association’s recent golf outing in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus.

DRIV is a business division of Tenneco Inc. The first training sessions were held in Dublin Aug. 9-10. Fifteen technicians took advantage of training, with OTAA picking up the tab.

“Next year we will pair our golf outing with training, as well,” says Wallick.

OTAA also is partnering with the Tire Industry Association to offer regional, in-person automotive and commercial tire technician training to its members in September and October.

OTAA again is covering the training fee - minus the workbook - plus hotel stay.

“Our plan is to continue to do this or something similar going forward,” says Wallick.
