Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s Steve McClellan, President of the Americas, has agreed to serve an extended term as the chairman of the board of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA).
McClellan's term will continue for an additional year through October 2021.
During the board's July 29 meeting, it also elected two new representatives of Kumho Tire USA Inc. and Pirelli Tire North America.
“The Board’s decision to ask Steve to continue as chair during these unpredictable times speaks to the confidence they have in his strong leadership,” said Anne Forristall Luke, CEO and president of USTMA. “U.S. tire manufacturers bolster the American economy and their products help transport millions of Americans and tons of goods each year. The elections of Pietro Berardi and Yong-Sik Shin augment an already exceptionally talented and strategic board who will help steer our industry through a robust economic recovery and resilient future.”
“I am honored to continue my role as chair of USTMA’s board, particularly now,” said McClellan. “As a $148 billion industry that helps power the U.S. manufacturing economy, it is critical that we maintain a strong and unified voice on reopening the American economy and on policy issues affecting the nearly 100,000 women and men who work for our member companies.”
Yong-Sik Shin, CEO and president of Kumho's American business division, and Pietro Berardi, the chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America, are both joining the board.
Yong-Sik Shin has serviced as the leader of Kumho's American business division since September 2019. Previously he served as the company’s head of global sales and spent 11 years leading Kumho's international sales, marketing and logistics initiatives for both the original equipmentnand replacement markets. Shin leads Kumho’s four main subsidiaries, Kumho Tire USA, Inc., Kumho Tire Canada, Kumho Tire Latin America and the Kumho Tire Georgia Plant from a sales and overall operations standpoint.
Pietro Berardi joined Pirelli in March after serving as vice president for the Alliance (Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi) managing global commercial operations and strategy of the parts and services business.
