Pirelli Wins WRC Sole Supplier Status

Dec. 26, 2019

The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has chosen Pirelli to be the sole tire supplier for the World Rally Championship (WRC) from 2021 through 2024.

In particular, Pirelli says it will supply all of the four-wheel drive cars that compete for the championship.

The supply deal “sits alongside the similar exclusive agreement” that the tiremaker has enjoyed with Formula One (F1) since 2011.

“Technology and passion are two key elements that Pirelli brings to motorsport, and these have allowed us to secure single tire supply for the WRC,” says Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli’s senior vice president of motorsports.

Mario Isola, Pirelli’s head of F1 and car racing, says that supplying WRC, alongside F1, “will enable us to improve our products still further by pitting them against some of the most varied and demanding conditions seen in motorsport.”
