Falken Tires Kicks Off King Of The Hammers Week 2018

Feb. 5, 2018

Falken Tires returns to the off-road racing universe in 2018 through its support of 11 exceptional teams for the 12th running of the King of the Hammers (KOH) race week, running February 2-10 on Means Dry Lake.

The full week of events, managed by Ultra4 Racing, is highlighted by the Friday, February 9th, King of the Hammers race, considered by many to be the toughest one-day off-road race in the world.
“As always, we are very excited for this week to begin,” stated Jonathon Bradford, Falken’s Manager, Motorsports and Events, “and we know our Falken WILDPEAKs are ready for the job of taking our teams through some of the toughest desert racing and rock crawling conditions."
“Falken Tires will have 11 teams running in the 4400, 4500, 4600 and 4800 classes,” added Brandon Barberena, Falken Tires’ new Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Among them, several entries will feature vehicles with our traditional Falken livery of blue and teal, including Brian McNamara, the 2015 Ultra4 4600 Class National Champion, who also placed 2nd in the same class in both 2016 and 2017, and will likely settle for nothing less than his second championship this year.
“Shawn Rants also will debut in Falken colors,” Barberena continued, “who is a veteran driver for Falken, and boasts a long record of accomplishments, including 1st in national points in the 2017 Ultra4. We’re also very glad to have Savvy Off-Road back, which will enter a vehicle in the 4500 class driven by Dan Fresh, well-known for his four Baja 1000 championships.”
More than 30,000 spectators and 400 teams will descend upon what has commonly become designated as “Hammertown,” which opens on February 2nd. Multiple races will be held throughout the week including King of The Motos, KOH UTV, the Every Man Challenge Race on Thursday, and the latest Ultra4 vs. Rock Bouncer shootout. For more information, please visit www.ultra4racing.com.
“Falken will be well represented,” Bradford added. “We’re pleased to have so many teams and drivers carrying our colors and wearing our tires, and we look forward to forging an even stronger relationship with them and with many others during this week and throughout the 2018 season.”
