Matt Brabham Wins Toronto Stadium Super Trucks Streetfight

July 19, 2016

The 22-year-old Indy 500 rookie secured his third Stadium Super Trucks race win on Saturday after a fierce battle with his 18-year-old Traxxas-backed team-mate.

The opening race had all eyes focused on the two Traxxas youngsters, swapping the lead on multiple occasions during the final lap of the race.

Despite the intense pressure applied to the No. 83 by Creed, Brabham showed true grit to record a memorable win in what could be regarded as one of the great races since Stadium Super Trucks was inaugurated.

On Sunday, the duo had to work their way through from the rear of the grid again and had Series founder, Robby Gordon and Aussie, Paul Morris in for the fight. Brabham showed astonishing racecraft to bump draft his way to the front of the field before the race would come down to its final moments.

Brabham - who made his Verizon IndyCar Series debut for PIRTEK Team Murray during the month of May - and Creed staged a second high speed brawl during the second and final race of the weekend.

Sunday’s race came down to the final jumps on the main straight of the Honda Indy Toronto circuit. Ultimately though, the race fell the way of Creed with Brabham following and securing the round win.

By virtue of his win and runner up results, Brabham maintains the lead in the North American points standings for the Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks competition and has edged closer to Creed in the overall World Championship.
